The Father’s Love

He’s not like everyone else.

In a world where fathers come and go, and many opt to leave because they no longer care, God has promised that He will always be there for you. He will never leave or forsake you. He loves you with an unconditional love – more than you could ever imagine!

He’s a Good Father

Whether you’ve had a good earthly father or not – God, the Heavenly Father, will always be good. Run into His loving arms. He is waiting to hold you.

He’ll be the best Dad you could ever ask for and love you with a love you won’t find in anyone else. He is the Father you have been looking for all of your life.

Remember: Your Heavenly Father loves you with an unconditional, forever, kind of love.

What God wants to do for you:

  • Love you with an unconditional love.
  • Be there for you always.
  • Show that He is your good Father and that He will take care of you.
  • Heal your wounded heart, comfort you, and give you His peace.

  2. How would you describe “unconditional” love?
  3. How does a good father provide for his children?
  4. What is said in these verses that could help us know that God cares about us? (Matthew 6:26,30)
  5. Isn’t it comforting to have a Heavenly Father who loves you even when you didn’t do anything to earn or deserve it?
  6. Is there any other person who could love you forever?

Have You Received?

Receive God’s Precious Gift

Imagine for a moment that someone is knocking at the door of your house. You have a choice to make. Will you choose to ignore them, tell them to go away or invite them in? In the Bible, Jesus says that He is knocking at the door of each of our lives. He desires to come in and give us the free gift of eternal life, but we must welcome Him.

Will you welcome Him in?

He won’t enter where he’s not invited or wanted. If we open the door of our life to Him and receive Him as our Savior, He will come in. Some may choose to ignore him or turn Christ away and refuse His gift. Is this what you want for your life?

However, when anyone truly believes and receives Jesus, He gives them the wonderful privilege of becoming children of God.

Remember: God cannot lie. He promised us that if we open the door of heart and invite Him to come in, He will come in!

What God wants to do for you:

  • Give you the gift of eternal life through Jesus.
  • Come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior.
  • Adopt you into His family and call you His very own child.

Reflection Questions:

  • What did Jesus say happens to us when we sincerely receive and believe in Jesus?
  • When we receive Jesus as Savior and Lord, we become a new creation. What does that mean to you?
  • Does everyone need to be born into God’s family?
  • What does it mean to be born into His family (born again)?

Take a moment to hear from God:

Read the following Bible passages and ask God to speak to you.

Born Again

God’s Wonderful Family

God loves you, and welcomes into His spiritual family all those who believe in, and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Birth is an important part of life. Not only are we born naturally to experience life here on this earth, we also must be born spiritually to experience the kingdom of God.

Born in the Spirit

Being born in the spirit is only made possible through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the one who said we must be born again. This happens as we believe in Jesus and His death, burial, and resurrection. We must receive Him as our Savior, and surrender to His Lordship in our life.

As Jesus exchanges our un-righteousness for His righteousness, we are cleansed and forgiven of our sins, and blessed with a new way of living.

Remember: Being “born again” means that when we surrender our heart and life to Jesus, He gives us new spiritual life.

What God wants to do for you:

  • Give you spiritual rebirth, making all things new.
  • Give you a new name, a new nature, a new identity as His child.
  • Adopt us into His family.
  • Give you a beautiful inheritance of eternal life in heaven.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What does it mean to be “born again”?
  2. Being born again is Biblical. It does not refer to being part of an organization or sect. It has to do with a spiritual birth. Do you have a desire to become a born again Christian?
  3. The Bible says, “the old has gone – the new has come.”  (2 Corinthians 5:17) What was your “old nature”? As a born again Christian, what is now your “new nature”?
  4. As part of God’s family, we are His heirs. What is the “inheritance” that we receive?

Take a moment to hear from God:

Read the following Bible passages and ask God to speak to you.

  • John 3:16,17
  • 1 Peter 1:23
  • John 3:3,5-7
  • Revelation 3:20
  • Ephesians 2:4-9

Jesus is the Light of the World

Jesus is the Light and Savior of the world. Everyone needs a Savior because we are all sinners, and need to be saved from the dreadful consequences of our sin. When Jesus saves us, he also wants us to help others know Him. When Jesus’ light comes into our lives, we become a light those around us.

Jesus says, “Let your light shine!”

Will you choose to be a light?

The Great Commission, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel” must be accomplished before the end comes. Jesus wants us to let His light shine through our lives. Let us be witnesses and faithfully share with others the good things the Lord has done and the great salvation He offers to all!

Remember: Jesus has given us His light, and now we have the privilege of letting His light shine through our lives.

What God wants to do for you:

Good News

Understanding the Gospel

The Gospel is Good News! This sums it up simply: Jesus, the Holy Son of God who was never for a second a sinner, died on a cross. The One without sin was treated as if He had committed every sin committed by every person. Why? So that we could become righteous and without sin in God’s sight. He loves us so much that He not only paid the penalty for our sin by dying on the cross, he conquered death, and came to life again on the third day to give us hope of eternal life.

Because of Jesus, we can be righteous.

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Now that IS Good News!

Remember: Jesus is God’s message of salvation. He took the penalty for our sin so that we could be made righteous.

What God wants to do for you:

  • Save you from the terrible consequences of sin.
  • Be your Savior, Lord, and Friend.
  • Show you His love through His sacrifice.
  • Teach you how to live in freedom through His Word.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What’s the best news you’ve ever heard?
  2. When Jesus was born, why did the angels say that they were bringing “good news that would bring great joy to all people”?
  3. What is the meaning of the name “Jesus”? (Matthew 1:21)
  4. What makes the Gospel so powerful?
  5. Why is the resurrection of Jesus such an important part of this message?
  6. Why is it important to preach the Good News before the end comes?

Take a moment to hear from God:

Read the following Bible passages and ask God to speak to you.

  • Romans 1:16
  • Matthew 1:21
  • 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
  • Matthew 24:14

Are You Sure?

What lies behind that great curtain called death?

This is the question most every person asks, and this is the place every person must enter alone. Many are terrified at what will happen to them. Naturally, they would like to know in advance what they could expect on the other side. They want some assurance that all will be well.

Death doesn’t need to be a hopeless plunge into the “vast unknown” because the Bible shows us the way to eternal life. God alone knows what really lies on the other side of the veil. That is why we want to see what the Bible has to say to find assurance that we will be with Christ and enjoy his amazing presence forever.

Assurance of Salvation

Jesus came to our sinful world to save us. According to the Word of God, we must believe that Jesus died and rose again. If we ask Him to forgive our sins and be our Savior, He will forgive our sins, and come into our hearts. Jesus gave His life so that we could have eternal life. This is where our assurance is found–not on our works of righteousness, but on Jesus’ finished work on the cross.

Remember: Our assurance of salvation is not based on our works, but rather on Jesus’ finished work on the cross.

What God wants to do for you:

  • Forgive your sins, and come into your heart.
  • Offer you the gift of eternal life through His sacrifice on the cross.
  • Give you “peace of mind” and assurance that you can go to heaven through believing in Him.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Why are some people unsure if they will go to heaven?
  2. According to God’s Word, if we have received the Son of God will we have eternal life?
  3. Why did God give his only Son to die for us?
  4. Are you afraid of dying? How can you live without the fear of death?
  5. If eternity is time that is infinite or unending, how important is it that you are well-prepared?
  6. How does the assurance of eternal life affect your “peace of mind”?

Take a moment to hear from God:

Read the following Bible passages and ask God to speak to you.

  • I John 5:11-13
  • John 3:16
  • Romans 6:23

New Life in Christ

He makes all things new.

Have you ever broken something valuable to you? Did you try to fix it with superglue? It’s hard to make it perfect again, right? In the same way, we are broken people because of sin. We need more than just “fixing” – we need Christ to make us brand new. To experience new life, we first need to experience new birth. This involves a new identity, a new nature, and a new way of living.

True conversion

Our behavior and lifestyle need to be changed to God’s holy pattern. In the book of Psalms, King David prays, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.” When we repent of the sin in our lives, God is able to put a new and right spirit within us.  He wants to help us live a new life in Christ – the beautiful way we were created to live.

Remember: God wants to help us live a new life in Christ – the beautiful way we were created to live.

What God wants to do for you:

  • Change you from “broken to whole” and from “sinful to holy”.
  • Take your grief and trauma and give you comfort and peace.
  • Heal you and be a tender and compassionate friend.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How will my new life in Christ be seen in my words and actions?
  2. Have you experienced brokenness in your life? God specializes in making broken people whole and offers them a fresh start.
  3. Saul’s life is a wonderful illustration of being radically converted from a persecutor of Christians to a follower of Jesus. (Read Acts 9:1-31)

Take a moment to hear from God:

Read the following Bible passages and ask God to speak to you.

  • Revelation 21:5
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17

Choose Life

Two Ways

Jesus talked about two ways – a way that leads to life, and one that leads to death and eternal destruction. We are all faced with daily choices. These choices are important because there are always consequences for the decisions that we make. We are personally responsible for our own decisions.

It’s Up to You

Ultimately we will all need to give account of ourselves to God, our Creator, for the choices that we make.  Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. When we choose to accept Him, live for Him and go His way, this is the way of life.

Jesus can help us make wise choices, and experience life and freedom! Let’s choose life!

Remember: It’s up to you to choose to surrender your life to Jesus and walk in the way of freedom.

What God wants to do for you:

  • Give you true life, a future, and hope.
  • Empower you to daily make the right choices.
  • Show you the best pathway for your life.

Reflection Questions:

  • What is your choice? Are you willing to sincerely and whole-heartedly choose the way of life?
  • Many are trying to find life other ways. Is there any other way that leads to life, except through Jesus?
  • When is the best time to choose?
  • How does Jesus describe the two ways? Which way have you been on in the past? What way are you on now? What way do you want to go for the rest of your life?

Take a moment to hear from God:

Read the following Bible passages and ask God to speak to you.

  • Matthew 7:13-14
  • John 14:6
  • Acts 4:12

Out of Darkness

God’s Marvelous Light

Have you ever been in pitch-black darkness where you couldn’t see anything? If you tried to move about, you may have stumbled or injured yourself. Natural darkness is difficult, but spiritual darkness is a greater challenge. God saw humanity’s situation and did not want to leave us trapped in our sins. He sent His Son Jesus, who said “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness” (John 12:46).

Choose to Come

God is calling us to come out of darkness into His marvelous light. This light brings the promise of hope, joy and eternal life. We no longer need to walk in the darkness of sin, for His light has power to change us!

Remember: God’s light is always more powerful than the darkness.

What God wants to do for you:

  • Reveal Himself to you. He is the Light of the world.
  • Expose the sin in your life and cleanse you through His Word.
  • Set your mind and heart free from the lies of the enemy. It is the truth of God’s Word that brings freedom.

Reflection Questions:

  • What is spiritual darkness?
  • What is sin?
  • What are the consequences of sin?
  • Who and what exposes sin and reveals the light?
  • Our life is transformed by the power of the gospel. Light makes a huge difference! Can you describe some of those differences?

Take a moment to hear from God:

Read the following Bible passages and ask God to speak to you.

  • I John 1:5,6
  • 2 Corinthians 4:6
  • John 8:12

Are You Free?

True Freedom

Freedom is something we all highly value. It is a fundamental human need. Many have even willingly sacrificed their lives to fight for their freedom. Unfortunately, each of us are born into the world with a sinful nature which brings bondage in our lives. True freedom starts on the inside with a whole-hearted pursuit of God.

Jesus Can Set Us Free

Jesus is able to set us free from bondage to sin, so that we are free no matter what takes place externally in our lives. When we seek Him – we will find Him and He will release us from captivity. Jesus said, “…you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If the Son makes you free, you shall be truly free.” (From John 8:31-36).

Remember: True freedom starts on the inside with a whole-hearted pursuit of God.

What God wants to do for you:

  • Set you free from being a captive to sin, when you surrender your life to Him.
  • Bring restoration to your identity as a child of God.
  • Teach you how to live in the freedom that He gives.

Reflection Questions:

  • What is your heart longing for? Peace? Love? Acceptance?
  • What do you need freedom from? (Fear, bondages, loneliness, hopelessness addictions, sin, etc.)
  • What is the key to maintaining lasting freedom?
  • How could seeing yourself through the loving eyes of God bring you encouragement in your journey toward freedom?
  • How can you willingly and sincerely seek, and draw near to the Lord?

Take a moment to hear from God:

Read the following Bible passages and ask God to speak to you.

  • 2 Corinthians 3:17
  • Jeremiah 29:13,14
