Imagine

with me for a minute that you are in an operating room about to undergo open-heart surgery. You have a serious heart condition, and the doctor told you that there is zero chance you can survive without an emergency heart transplant. You are prepped and waiting for the operation, but when the doctor comes into the operating room, you decide that it’s time to take charge. You blurt out: “Okay Doc, here are the rules: I know I need a heart transplant, but I don’t need you to be involved. I’m pretty sure I can change out my heart all by myself.”

What do you think the response of those doctors and nurses would be at that moment?

Ironically, on a spiritual level, we sometimes treat Jesus this way. We may realize that we have some serious heart issues, but Instead of coming to God (the best doctor around), we try to “fix” our own heart. And then we wonder why we still have problems.

The truth is, only God can remove from us our heart of stone, and give us a heart of flesh–a heart that willingly follows Him.

What God wants to do for you:

• Take out your heart of stone
• Give you a “new heart” that willingly follows Him
• Gift you with the desire and the power to do what pleases Him

Whatever you are going through right now, choose to come to Jesus. He is a God who specializes in miracles. Ask Him to give you a new, pure heart that is willing to follow Him. Besides, He promised that if we come to Him and ask Him, He will gift us with a new heart. He is always faithful to His promises!

How is my heart doing?
Have I asked God for a new heart?
Will I allow God to perform His miracle-work in my heart and in my life?
